A little bit more about Pastors Joshua and Joy Hester...
Joshua was a rebellious teen into stealing and drugs. After his parents’ divorce he went deeper into drugs and rebellion. His mom, on the other hand, “found Jesus” and pestered her son to come to church with her. At first, Josh just went to church to appease his mother. He did not understand why people raised their hands and jumped during worship. He made fun of them! However, it all changed one night when the pastor gave an altar call. That night the power of the Holy Spirit touched and changed Josh forever.
Since that day, Josh has dedicated his life to the work of the ministry. He has worked with both children and teens. Josh served as an intern in 2000 and graduated from Solid Rock School of Ministry in 2002. He went on to receive his credentials in ministry with the General Council of the Assemblies of God in June, 2003 and his License to Preach from the Assemblies of God in June, 2008.
I, Joy, also grew up in urban Toledo. I am what I like to call a 3rd generation South End girl. I was saved at the age of nine and was baptized in the Holy Spirit at the age of 13. Although I knew about God, I did not yet know who God was. I went through some rough times during my teenage years. I was rebellious and looking for love in all the wrong places. I tried to please man instead of God. However, through God's great mercy and grace, at nineteen years of age, God rocked my world! He showed Himself to me in His power. After falling in love with Jesus, I realized God had a call on my life to be a minister of the Gospel. After attending Masters Commission and Berean School of the Bible for ministerial training, I obtained minister's credentials with the Assemblies of God in 2001. I went on to receive my License to Preach from the Assemblies of God in June 2008, and was ordained with my husband May, 2014.
In 2016, God started to lay a new community on our hearts. We started to hear Him call us to expand our ministry to the Anthony Wayne area. At first we questioned God and thought maybe He had the wrong people. After all part of our identity was wrapped up in being “urban missionaries”, and well, the Waterville area is not “urban.” However, as we began to seek His face with prayer and fasting we knew we must say “YES” to the call. God showed us that the people of Waterville, Whitehouse, Monclova, and the surrounding areas may not live in poverty like many in the South End of Toledo do, but they still need Jesus. The Lord began to show us that this was his way to help bridge urban ministry and suburban ministry. His heart is for all people to come to know Him. We began to meet with a core group of people in January 2017 and since then launched our Waterville campus that meets in Waterville Primary School.
We hope you have been touched by our testimony and faith journey and are encouraged- if God can do it for us, He can do it for you too! There is nothing more satisfying than knowing Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord. If you need prayer or anything at all, please be sure to find us. We would love to meet and pray with you and help you get plugged into what God is doing at Vision Ministries.
Catching the vision and restoring it to others,

Lead Pastors
Our History…
Joshua and Joy Hester have the privilege and honor to be the founding- lead pastors of Vision Ministries. Josh and Joy met and fell in love while serving inministry together at Solid Rock Ministries and were married in April 2001. They have been blessed with four beautiful kids, Joshua Jr., Jubilee, Jordan, and Justice. As permanent partners in ministry, they both served at Solid Rock Ministries under Pastor Keith Stepp for several years as children’s pastors and youth pastors.
In 2006, Solid Rock moved to Oregon, Ohio and God opened the door for the Hester’s to plant a new church in the old Solid Rock building at South and Broadway. The South End became their mission field! Their love for the people of this community was obvious to all. God put a new name on their
heart, Vision Ministries, because without vision people parish,( Proverb 29:18). Vision Ministries exists, to restore vision to the body of Christ, so that they can share their faith in Jesus, give hope to others, and spread the love of God to all creation.
The thing is, Josh and Joy were not always devoted followers of Christ. There was a time when they did not have vision. They needed faith, hope, and love. The thought of being in the ministry would have been absurd to them. Please allow Joy to share a little bit of their testimony.
